Summary Of Our Agenda

MCRA 2025 Conference Recap – Westgate Resort, Park City, Utah

For our 2025 MCRA Conference, attendees gathered at the beautiful Westgate Resort in Park City, Utah—an ideal mountain setting for learning, collaboration, and fresh perspectives. The crisp September air and sweeping Wasatch Range views made this year’s event especially memorable.

We opened on Monday evening with a reception on the Observation Deck. The outdoor setting, surrounded by alpine scenery, offered the perfect backdrop for reconnecting with colleagues and welcoming new faces to the MCRA community.

Tuesday Highlights

After breakfast in the Bear Ballroom, the general session began with opening remarks from Julaine Novak, MCRA Board Treasurer, who set the tone for two days of insight, innovation, and industry dialogue.

Our keynote speaker, Johnny Quinn, kicked off the morning with Breaking Through Barriers: Unleash Resilience, Determination and Growth for Unbounded Success. His message of perseverance and adaptability resonated strongly with attendees and energized the room.

Following a short break, we transitioned into a deep dive on Provider Risk Delegation Trends with Jeremiah Rueter of Optum Insights and Clare Wirth of the Advisory Board. Their combined perspectives offered a comprehensive look at how risk delegation is evolving and what it means for payers, providers, and the broader value‑based care ecosystem.

Lunch in the Bear Ballroom provided time for networking before the afternoon sessions resumed.

The first afternoon presentation, Breaking the Bank: The High Cost of Drugs and Gene Therapy, was led by Dr. Stacy Borans of Advanced Medical Strategies. Dr. Borans explored the financial pressures created by emerging therapies and the implications for health plans navigating rapidly rising specialty drug costs.

After a brief break, Scott Barlow closed the day with Value‑Based Care in Action, offering a provider‑side perspective on what it takes to operationalize value‑based models in real-world settings.

As is tradition, Tuesday concluded with our group event—this year at Star Bar on Main Street, one of Park City’s iconic après‑ski and nightlife spots. The relaxed atmosphere, historic charm, and lively conversation made for a great evening together.

Wednesday Highlights

Wednesday began with breakfast in the Bear Ballroom before we welcomed Nancy E. Taylor Green, Shareholder at Greenberg Traurig, for a session on Healthcare Legislative Trends. Her policy insights and forward‑looking analysis helped attendees understand the regulatory forces shaping the next several years.

Our final speaker, Susan Dentzer, President and CEO of America’s Physician Groups, delivered How to Reinvent Healthcare in the U.S. Ms. Dentzer offered a compelling vision for system transformation, emphasizing the role of physician groups, payment reform, and scalable value‑based strategies.

The conference concluded late Wednesday morning with closing remarks and gratitude for all who contributed to another successful MCRA gathering.

We hope you plan to join us in 2026 at the Peabody in historic Memphis, Tennessee.
