Our conference started Monday evening with a reception sponsored by The Assist Group.
“It (the conference) was all very well done this year. One of the best I’ve been to.”
Tuesday morning opened with our keynote speaker, Mitch Gaylord. Mr. Gaylord first thrilled the world in 1984 when he led the United States Olympic gymnastics team to its Gold Medal victory. In addition to being the first American Gymnast in history to score a “Perfect 10,” Mitch went on to capture a Silver medal for Vaulting and two Bronze medals for Rings and Parallel Bars. Mitch Gaylord has been motivating and inspiring audiences worldwide for over 26 years, speaking to Fortune 500 Companies, Associations, and Students across the country. His personal mission is to inspire others to greatness through his presentations.

“Always enjoy kicking off the conference with a great keynote speaker!”

“Great conference! Loved the location and facility, as well as the speakers/topics.”

Jeff Schulte with Axia Strategies spoke to us about the ongoing challenges and new management strategies with specialty pharmacy. With the soaring costs associated with specialty pharmacy, this is a topic we all could relate to.

Cliff Frank with Partnera Partners shared with us the emerging opportunities in provider risk transfer including ACOs, bundled payments, narrow networks and other new phenomena. With the many upcoming changes with healthcare reform, these were issues worthy of discussion.

Tuesday’s speakers wrapped up with Charlene Frizzera of Leavitt Partners. Spending several years with CMS, including executing the design and implementation plan for the recently implemented Affordable Care Act, Charlene was able to share the many challenges Medicaid is facing brought on by health care reform.

“The conference was excellent, very informative, good networking.”

Unfortunately due to a harsh storm that hit DC that evening, we were unable to enjoy our Washington DC Moonlit Tour. Instead, we did have the privilege of hearing from Senator Scott Brown! He joined us to share a bit of his perspective on the changes with health care and the possible impact of our upcoming election. The evening wrapped up after an enjoyable reception hosted by HMS.

Wednesday morning started with a great breakfast and moved into our first speaker: Brett Graham of Leavitt Partners. He shared his perspective on the future of healthcare. As a partner with Leavitt Partners, Mr. Graham directs the health insurance exchange practice and provides strategic advisement and resources to a variety of insurance exchange clients. The audience found his knowledge invaluable.
“Brett Graham was excellent – would be great to have him return next year to speak.”

Corey Fenoglio of HMS joined us next to share how to leverage the best tools to maximize compliance efforts and minimize audit risks. Working toward minimizing audit risks is always at the top of our lists! Very useful information.

Following lunch was Deb Ault of Ault International Medical Management. She came prepared to tell us about utilization management, case management, disease management and wellness care, especially the importance of patient engagement.

Our conference ended with a panel discussion on Nitric Oxide – The Controversy, Indications and Payor Solutions. Speakers covering this important topic included Dr. Edward Karotkin of Children’s Hospital of the King’s Daughters; Darrin Sacks with The Assist Group; and Jakki Lynch from Presidio.

“Great conference! Loved the location and facility, as well as the speakers/topics.”

For those present at the end of our conference, a prize drawing was held for two lucky winners.
