MCRA 2018 kicked off with our Monday evening reception in the Altitude Room at the top level of the W Dallas Hotel.
Tuesday’s breakfast was followed by our keynote speaker, Vanderbilt University Professor Larry Van Horn. Professor Van Horn shook up the crowd with his detailed information on economic trends in U.S. health care.

Joining us from Leavitt Partners was Clay Alspach who shared what we can expect from President Trump and Congress regarding value, drug pricing and the Affordable Care Act.

Our after lunch speaker was John Glasspool, advisor to MIT’s NEWDIGs Initiative. Mr. Glasspool shared amazing information on durable gene therapies.

The afternoon wrapped up with Dr. Keith Smith of the Oklahoma Surgery Center. His presentation “Kryptonite for the Price Gougers” shared stories on price transparency and free markets.

As in years past and again requested this year, we started Wednesday morning with a panel discussion. This year’s topic was Aggregate Reinsurance of ACOs. The panel included our moderator Kelly Munger of SCOR. Joining her was Stephen Nuckolls of Coastal Carolina Quality Care, Jeremiah Reuter of Optum Advisory Services, Tracy Hoffman of Dubraski & Associates, Paul Skrtich of Odyssey Reinsurance, and Howard Kahn of Milliman.
Our conference was closed by Peter Roussel, a Media Commentator and Former White House Press Spokesman. He shared a bit of humor from the White House!
